An Ode to Beloved Mister Sippy <3
A poem I wrote in honour of my dear departed foster cat Mister "Sippy" Precipitation
The following is a poem I wrote in honour of my dear departed foster cat Mister "Sippy" Precipitation.
I think poems are best experienced aurally, so here is a recording of me reading it for you to listen along to :)
Oh, Mister the Precipitation, he had such zest for life!
He longed for company and stritches, loved ones to ease his strife.
Within 5 minutes of meeting he sat purring on my lap;
Within a week he'd curl up on my neck as I would nap.
When I had a threesome the most excited one was him -
Not one, not two, but THREE humans to lounge upon? BIG WIN !!!
When I first let him come up on my bed he purred for an hour straight,
His time trapped in the bathroom was so VERY worth the wait.
He would not deign to suffer being unjustly ignored,
He'd launch himself across the sky to me when he was bored.
They said they were concerned about his mobility?
Uhh... this cat still plays with wand toys, I think he's fine, actually!!
He had the strangest old man meow, so demanding and hoarse,
He would always greet me with it, such delight within his voice.
He had the smallest appetite of any cat I've met
BUT he loved his tuna slurry, said "mmyum yum yum" and was content.
He was so like me in many ways - sick, sleepy, loved to touch
He smelled far far FAR worse though, my god, he stank SO much.
He was chronically drooling, and loved to shake his head
Blessing all of us around him with sprays of Sippy foam he spread.
My friends and I, we reckon that was how he got his name
For he'd precipitate on all of us, it was his claim to fame.
My bathroom, it still smelt like him, days after he was gone
What used to overstimulate I wished to huff once more.
In the end, he died so fast when I was told it would be slow,
Drowning from a cancer that I wasn't meant to know of.
He was so goddamn adoptable, a truly delightful cat,
But I'm glad he spent a month with me, we're both grateful for that.
Oh beloved Mister Sippy, thank you for all your joy.
Thank you for letting me take care of you, grandpa angel baby boy.
